Set up in 1991 in Velké Pavlovice, the unconventional winemaker with winemaking roots, Radomil Baloun produce some of the best wines in the Czech Republic. The final proces takes place at Křížové sklepy in Hustopeče close to Brno. Featuring a processing facility and 310 square meters of cellar space. Both facilities are gradually being reconstructed to accommodate tourists. The cellar and the buildings date back to 1750 when it was erected as a lord's court for Maria Theresa. Home to predominantly red wines, the actual cellar previously served as a so-called "tenth cellar" meaning that a tenth of the wine had to be given up to the authorities. The winery currently manages approx. 100ha of vineyards. 40 ha of black grapes varieties are planted on Nadzahrady in Velké Pavlovice. A further 60 ha of predominantly white varieties are planted in the Pálava uplands.
